Body in Ten Parts

Over the course of one night an anonymous sleeper is disembodied. Body in Ten Parts imagines what it might feel like to disassemble the body, creating abstract imagery and unexpected movement from its various parts. The effect may be whimsical or unsettling, bizarre or familiar, or—more than likely —something in between.

Body in Ten Parts is a collaborative project that playfully yet rigorously prods the limits of the proprioceptive sense, to which performers owe their intuitive understanding of space, interaction, coordination and internalization (often called “muscle memory”). This quirky spectacle reinterprets the ‘out-of body’ experience through physical explorations of dance, pantomime and object theatre.
