Needlework

An ongoing exploration of the sculptural and performative possibilities of the needle.

Eye or Needle / Needle or Eye magnifies the everyday endeavor, eternalizing the brief meeting of subject and object on a familiar plane. The video loops consist of a series of still images projected in rapid succession, lending an exaggerated and almost inhuman quality to the movement. The effect is uncomfortable to watch for a prolonged period, isolating the sharp point between pain and release, loop and terminus, aspiration and attainment.

The piece is intended for installation in a concealed space behind or between two walls and viewed through an inconspicuous hole.
