Selvation is a play on the terms “selvage” and “salvation,” a conflation of two worlds that continue to inform this body of work. The series investigates the intersection between femininity and a Western (primarily Catholic) conception of spirituality, including the semi-presence of women in biblical narrative, ideology and ritual.
